I've been using natural deodorant for years now, but I recently started making my own–which is so much more economical, plus I know what's going into it.
Since ditching aluminum based deodorant, I've had smoother skin on my upper back, shoulders, and upper arms. I honestly believe I would get acne, bumps, and red marks in those areas because my body was trying to push the toxins out. I also implemented exfoliating and switched from lotions to organic coconut oil, but I saw a real difference with the switch to natural deodorant.
This organic natural deodorant recipe is super simple and cost effective, I'll probably never buy manufactured natural deodorants again. Now, let's get to it!
Ingredients
1/4 Cup Coconut Oil
1/4 Cup Beeswax
1/4 Cup Arrowroot
1/4 Cup Baking Soda
1/8 Cup Bentonite Clay
Approximately 20 Drops of Essential Oils (adjust to preference)
Recipe
In a double boiler, mix coconut oil and beeswax until melted.
Mix in dry ingredients (arrowroot, baking soda, bentonite clay).
Mix in essential oils, I like a combination of lavender and rose.
Pour mixture into old deodorant containers or glass containers and place in the refrigerator for 10-20 minutes to set. This yields about 2 deodorant containers and one small glass container for me.
